Agathi Mandiram | A Home for the Destitute : Founded in 1933

WE WITNESS LOVE, COMPASSION AND PEACE, REVEALED IN IT'S TRUE SENSE

Love and compassion of P. C. George Sir and his sister Leyamma towards their fellow beings  culminated in opening their home, to those who were aged, sick, penniless and orphans. Leyamma eventually succumbed to cholera while serving the inmates during an outbreak in 1943. She gracefully laid down her life for the inmates of Agathi Mandiram

More than 8 decades since its humble beginning, there are around 100 inmates who had once borne the neglect of their near and dear ones and are spending their eventide years peacefully under the tutelage of Mandirams Society and Hospital. All the institutions and projects of Mandirams Society find its genesis linked to Agathi Mandiram and its growth linked to the  selfless service of many individuals and community.

What We Do !

Founding Principles

— Love & Compassion

Seeds of unconditional love and compassion sown by the founders continue to guide us in this noble venture. Caste, colour, creed and religion have no role to play to receive love and compassion at Agathi Mandiram. Love is the thread that binds together Mandiram family.

03.

— Peace

The ” aged – poor – abandoned ” men  and women find peace in the environment created from faith, love, compassion and the facilities offered by Mandirams Society. We assure a serene atmosphere for all the inmates and most of them witness that the life here is peaceful and blessed.

The Home for the Poor was established in 1933 to provide solace and comfort to the aged, sick and helpless, discarded from families and neglected by Society.

It was the vision of the founder, Shri. P.C. George and his sister Leyamma that Mandirams Society should strive to alleviate the sufferings of the poor by providing food, shelter, clothing and medical care, without showing any discrimination. We at the Mandirams follow the guiding principles of the founder and serve the destitute by healing their wounds and bring joy and peace at the twilight of their life.
